The Best Kind of Exercise for Fat Loss

I know, I know, the title of this article feels like clickbait. Google the topic and you will come up with a myriad of exercises. You name it: HIIT, metabolic conditioning, CrossFit, marathon training, Tabata, or some crazy burpee/renegade row/kettlebell swing with a twisting get-up jump lunge. Maybe some of this means something to you or perhaps it’s all Greek. Well, here is the answer; the best exercise for weight loss is whatever you can do consistently.  Most of the aforementioned training modalities are effective if done consistently (and haven’t resulted in injury).

Having said this, if you never challenge yourself, you reap what you sow. Our bodies are incredibly good at adapting and need to be stimulated with extra challenges if we are to see progress. Therefore, there must be a plan in place relative to your fitness history, injuries, capacity, and lifestyle. All that said, it must be customized to suit YOU, not what some YouTube superhuman says worked for him or her.  Get some professional help from a qualified fitness professional that can properly assess where you are at and put a plan in place to help you get consistent progress.

If you are lacking the initial push to get into a consistent habit, here are a few ideas to help you build your consistency:
a) Start with what feels good and you feel comfortable with.
b) Find a like-minded exercise partner; ideally, one that is slightly fitter than you so they can inspire you without demotivating or overwhelming you.
c) Don’t beat yourself up for straying off the path occasionally.
d) Have a long-game mindset. Fitness is a life-long pursuit.
e) Accountability. i.e.: Don’t be on an island with your fitness journey. Make a commitment and tell some friends about it. It’s amazing what a little social pressure can do!

Let us know how we can help. At Preventous, we want YOU to succeed so reach out and let us give you a plan.

P.S.: You can’t out-exercise a bad diet. Make sure you have a plan for that too!  Hey, guess what? We’ve got that covered as well!
